New York, New York!

One of the greatest parts of being indie is the sheer fun it can be when the cast and crew band together to promote their craft. Admittedly, the coolest part of promotion is meeting the people and developing a relationship with Fans. Felicia Day of the Guild is a prime example of a kind friendly creator that works more to cater to the fans than to the dollar. We've only had the pleasure of meeting her once at the Toronto National Fan Expo 2010, but she is definitely an inspiration to Mind's Eye the Series.

The Guild is one of, if not THEE most successful of web series that have inspired Mind's Eye. Synopsis below;

"The Guild" is an award-winning online sitcom about the lives of gamers who are members of an online guild called "The Knights of Good". It is written for gamers, about gamers, by a gamer. Episodes vary from 3-6 minutes in length, and follow the Guild members’ lives online and offline.

While in New York at the Comic Con 2010, we managed to meet the other major inspiration for our series. The B.C. born and bread series entitles "Riese". See below for the Synopsis;

Riese is a Sci-Fi/Fantasy web series chronicling the journey of a traveler named Riese. A seemingly random wanderer, she flees across the dying lands of Eleysia with her father’s wolf, Fenrir, at her side. On her trail is The Sect, a terrifying religious organization who have spread throughout the world. Sent by Empress Amara, new ruler of Eleysia, she and The Sect will stop at nothing to find her.

On her journey, Riese will find the determination to face The Sect, and her destiny, in a conflict that will hold the fate of the world in the balance – and the once peaceful kingdom of Eleysia will be the battlefield. Despite the impending doom, Riese will emerge as the sole beacon of hope.

“Riese”, a unique and original steampunk-inspired web production shoots this August using the cutting-edge technology of the RED One camera system and premieres November 2nd. Cast includes Christine Chatelain (SyFy’s Sanctuary, Supernatural, The Collector, The L-Word ). Ben Cotton (Harper’s Island, Stargate: Atlantis, Stan Helsing), Sharon Taylor (Stargate: Atlantis, Smallville) and Patrick Gilmore (Stargate: Universe, Battlestar Galactica, Intelligence).

The Kids of MIND’S EYE Meet THE GUILD’S Felicia Day

Felicia Day Meets Mind's Eye Actors

Could a crossover be in the works? We're not sure, but we do know that the young players of MIND'S EYE were both thrilled and honoured to get a chance to meet and talk to Felicia Day, star of DR. HORRIBLE'S SING-ALONG BLOG and the webseries THE GUILD, at this past weekend's National Fan Expo.  Obviously, the kids are big fans of Ms. Day's series, which follows the offline adventures of a group of online gamers. Hoping to follow in THE GUILD's tremendous success, Nik MacMillan, Aidan Harris, Jodre Datu, Andrew Ellis, Nathan Fryer and McKinlee Phillips talked MIND'S EYE with Ms. Day and took the opportunity to open the door for her to appear in the second season of their webseries.

Getting the opportunity to meet the wonderful Felicia Day (who was really, really nice to all kids at Fan Expo by the way) was just one of the many great memories that cast and crew took away from the weekend event at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (and that goes double for Jodre). Stay tuned for much more about MIND'S EYE as we count down to the November 26th series premiere.

Mind’s Eye Takes The National Fan Expo

What a weekend for the cast and crew of MIND'S EYE THE SERIES! Record-breaking attendance at the National Fan Expo made for an ideal environment for Synn Studios' biggest push for MIND'S EYE yet with the premiere of the official trailer and the in-person appearances of several members of the cast, some of them in costume.

All-in-all, we got some incredible responses and generated a lot of excitment for the November 26th premiere of the webseries. We made a lot of new friends and had a really great time in the process. Dozens of people got their pictures taken with Tom Brown (Hero Mark, The Knight), Thomas Gofton (Hero Patrick, The Samurai Cowboy) and Sean Liu (Hero Koji, The Ninja). Also at the MIND'S EYE booth were the younger cast members: Nik MacMillan, Aidan Harris, Jodre Datu, Lily O'Coin, Andrew Ellis, Nathan Fryer and McKinlee Phillips.

The cast and crew of MIND`S EYE would like to thank everyone that came out to support us over the weekend, and to our new friends, we hope that you enjoyed seeing what we're working on and that we've got you excited for what's coming in the future. And if you missed the trailer, sorry, but you'll have to wait with everyone else to see it when it's officially launched this Halloween. In the meantime, mark your calendars for the November 26th series premiere and take a look at the pictures below.

Although not in her Hero Elyssa costume, actress Danika Czubak took a break from playing a Roman at Anchor Bay's SPARTACUS' booth to hang out with the MIND'S EYE crew
